A few days ago, Disney’s live-action version of “The Little Mermaid” announced that it will be scheduled for North America on May 26, 2023.
“The Little Mermaid” is directed by Rob Marshall, starring Halle Bailey, Jonah Hauer-King, and Melissa McCarthy. It is a song and dance film based on Disney’s 1989 animation “The Little Mermaid”.
“The Little Mermaid” is adapted from a classic Disney animation. It tells the story of a young mermaid making a deal with a sea witch, exchanging his voice for his legs to discover the human world.
Rob Marshall (“Chicago”, “Memoirs of a Geisha”) directed, Jane Goldman (“Kingsman: The Secret Service”, “X-Men: First Class”) screenwriter, Lin-Manuel Miranda and Disney legendary composer Alan Menken will create the new song.
In the movie, the little mermaid falls in love with a human prince. In order to be with the prince, she sacrificed her voice and endured great pain to transform herself into a human, but the prince married the princess.
The little mermaid did not kill the prince to turn back into a mermaid, but chose to sacrifice herself, and in the end she got an eternal soul.
It is worth mentioning that while “The Little Mermaid” is scheduled, Disney also announced the schedule of 4 unnamed Marvel movies in 2024: February 16, May 3, July 26, November. 8th.
