The musical version of “The Color Purple” was officially launched. In the exposed studio photos, you can see a board beater used by the crew with shooting information written on it. This film, which has been in preparation since 2018, finally started the filming process.
The musical version of “The Color Purple” is based on Alice Walker’s 1982 epistolary novel of the same name. It tells the story of black Georgia sisters Celie and Nettie who were separated as children and finally reunited after many years.
The director of the film is Sam Blitz Bazawule, who is widely known for “The Burial Of Kojo” and “Black Is King”.

For the cast, Ciara Princess Harris, Colman Domingo, Danielle Brooks, Halle Bailey, Corey Hawkins, singer H.E.R. and Taraji P. Henson will all join the cast.
In Hollywood history, Steven Spielberg once shot a version of “The Color Purple”. At the time, the film starred Whoopi Goldberg, Akosua Busia, Danny Glover and others.
According to the plan, the new version will be released on December 20, 2023, which will be a typical awards season.
