The sci-fi movie “Dune” directed by Denis Villeneuve premiered in the United States last weekend at a box office of $40.1 million.
This box office broke the previous expectations of 30 to 35 million US dollars, and “Dune” easily won the North American box office championship.

It is the only two Hollywood movies with a global box office of over 500 million U.S. dollars this year (the other is “Fast and Furious 9”).

Ranked fifth is the newly released animated film “Ron’s Gone Wrong” last week.
The box office of “Ron’s Gone Wrong” was only $7.3 million in the first week (previously estimated at $10 million), and the global box office totaled $17.3 million.
