The Sandman’ has received a lot of critical acclaim since its inception, but the creators of ‘The Sandman’ are concerned that the show’s previous success is still not enough for Netflix to give the green light to Season 2.
Neil Gaiman, writer of ‘The Sandman’ comic and executive producer of the Netflix adaptation, said “the high cost of developing the show meant that it had to do very well in order to be allowed to shoot Season 2.”
‘The Sandman’ Netflix version was reported to be a huge financial deal when it was announced in 2019, the most expensive series DC Entertainment had undertaken at the time.
In addition to that, Neil Gaiman shared some insight into how Netflix measures the success of its content, saying that Netflix focuses on completion rates (the number of people who actually complete a series or movie), not just the number of views it has.
So if you want to contribute to the success of ‘The Sandman’, be sure to watch the series all the way through.
