A few days ago, the American version of “A Man Called Otto”, which has been established for more than 5 years, has settled in Sony.
The film was sold at the European Film Market (EFM) at the Berlin Film Festival, where it sold for $60 million, a record for the European film market.
The US version is called “A Man Called Otto” and it stars Tom Hanks and is directed by Marc Forster. In terms of screenplay, David Magee, who wrote “Life of Pi”, will write the screenplay.
The original film for “A Man Called Otto” is from Sweden, and it’s a story of love and unexpected friendship.

The film focuses on a grumpy widower, alienated and eccentric, who decides to end his life with dignity, but faces all kinds of obstacles.
The original novel of the same name was written by Fredrik Backman in 2012. The novel was very popular and was on the New York Times bestseller list for 77 weeks. It was translated into 43 languages and published worldwide.
The Swedish version, released in 2015, was directed by Hannes Holm and starred Rolf Lassgård.
In 2016, “A Man Called Ove” received a box office of $3.47 million after a small release in the United States, and squeezed into the top ten foreign language films in the US market that year.
According to the plan, “A Man Called Otto” will start filming this year and will be released on Christmas.
