On April 27th, the Organizing Committee of the 75th Cannes Film Festival announced that the new film “Tirailleurs” by Mathieu Vadepied, director of “La Vie en Grand”, will serve as the opening film of a kind of attention section.
Judging from the synopsis of the story published on IMDb, “Tirailleurs” tells the story of soldiers from Senegal being sent to the front lines during the First World War.
On the published posters, two African-American soldiers wearing French Adrian 1915 steel helmets are crawling to avoid the attack of artillery fire. There was a thick layer of dust on their rucksacks and uniforms.
