“Top Gun: Maverick,” Tom Cruise’s comeback after more than 30 years, opens Friday in Northern America, and its box-office success is stellar.
The film grossed $19.3 million in early theater Thursday + fan field Tuesday, and “Top Gun: Maverick” is the best early game in Memorial Week at Paramount Pictures and Northern America, and it will also set Tom Cruise’s career Best opening score – $100 million or more in the first four days.
2005’s “War of the Worlds” is currently Cruise Northern America’s top-grossing opening film. The film received 64.9 million in the first three days of the first week, followed by 61.2 million in 2018’s “Mission: Impossible – Fallout”, and none of the other films exceeded 60 million regardless of inflation.
