“Top Gun: Maverick” tops Tom Cruise’s work in Northern America box office, “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” tops $900 million worldwide

Tom Cruise’s “Top Gun: Maverick” continues to be a box office hit in Northern America, it took in $86 million in its second weekend in Northern America, down only 32% from the previous year.

“Top Gun: Maverick” surpassed “War of the Worlds” in 2005 with a cumulative $291 million to become the top grossing Northern America film starring Tom Cruise with $234 million.

“Top Gun: Maverick” also has the following numbers of interest: the film Northern America next weekend fell 32%, the lowest drop in recent years in Northern America opening box office of $100 million or more.

The film has an IMDb score of 8.7 out of 108,000 and is ranked 44 in the Top 250 (8.5 on the list), the highest ranking of any film released after 2020.

It took less than two weeks for “Top Gun: Maverick” to surpass the $180 million accumulated by “Top Gun” Northern America 36 years ago. The film has now grossed $257 million outside of Northern America and $548.6 million worldwide.

“Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” got $9.25 million in its fifth weekend and second, its Northern America box office accumulated $388 million, and the global cumulative total exceeded $900 million.

The film also became director Sam Raimi’s highest-grossing individual film worldwide.

“Bob’s Burgers: The Movie” got $4.5 million in the second weekend and ranked third, with Northern America accumulating $22 million and $23.9 million worldwide.

“The Bad Guys” ranked fourth with $3.33 million in its seventh weekend, with Northern America accumulating $87.29 million and $218 million worldwide.

“Downton Abbey: A New Era” ranked fifth with $3 million in its third weekend, while Northern America accumulated $35.7 million and $76.72 million worldwide.

“Jurassic World: Dominion” opened in 15 markets worldwide last weekend, and its opening weekend grossed $55.4 million.
