Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (“Aquaman” “The Trial of the Chicago 7”) will star in Amazon’s new film “I Helped Destroy People” and will be producing alongside Michael Bakari Jordan and others.
“I Helped Destroy People” is based on true events, adapted from a 2021 “The New York Times” article of the same name and written by Ben Watkins (“Hand of God”).
It tells the story of FBI agent Terry Albury (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) who was sent to infiltrate Muslim communities after 9/11 because he was the only black agent in his bureau at the time.
And Albury was disillusioned with the war on terror. He disclosed confidential documents, exposing the FBI’s surveillance of relevant reporters, groups, etc., and was eventually imprisoned for this.
