Lena Dunham (‘Girls’) wrote and directed the official trailer for her new film ‘Catherine, Called Birdy’ , which goes live on Amazon on October 7 and will have its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival.
‘Catherine, Called Birdy’ is based on the novel by Karen Cushman and stars “Little Bear” Bella Ramsey, Billie Piper, Andrew Scott, Joe Alwyn. Dean-Charles Chapman starred.
The film follows the adventures of Catherine, a young girl in medieval England: her father, who arranged her marriage, is determined to marry her to a rich man, regardless of any other qualities.
With wit, subterfuge and luck, Catherine manages to get a couple of prospective husbands to pack up and leave, and then she meets a bearded suitor from the North who is by far the oldest, ugliest and most offensive – and, unfortunately, the richest.
Would a sharp-tongued, spirited, intelligent, opinionated young girl really lose a battle against a rude, pig-like aristocrat and an unimaginative, greedy father?
