The Three Musketeers’ is a novel by French writer Alexandre Dumas, père, published in 1844, set in the seventeenth century, which chronicles the story of a young man, D’Artagnan, who leaves home for Paris to join the Musketeers (France).
D’Artagnan is not the three musketeers in the title of the novel, the three musketeers are his friends Athos, Porthos and Aramis, D’Artagnan came up with the motto “tous pour un, un pour tous”, the musketeers follow this principle.
The novel has been adapted into movies several times, most recently in 2011 when ‘Resident Evil’ directors Paul Anderson and Milla Jovovich concocted ‘The Three Musketeers’.
