James Wan said in an interview with IGN that the title “Malignant” has multiple meanings.
On the one hand, it touched the inner horror as well as the medical horror.
“Malignant” is an oncology term in medicine, which refers to the ability of tumors or cancer cells to proliferate indefinitely and have the ability to infiltrate and metastasize.
In the film, the heroine Madison and his sister want to find out why, he even thinks this is the horror version of “Frozen”.
There are many sisterhoods in “Malignant”, and there are more terrible things.
James Wan said that he doesn’t want people to think of themselves as a repetitive director, only making scary horror movies.
He tried many new elements in “Malignant” and wanted to change people’s traditional view of him: Wen Ziren only shoots demons and haunted houses.
“My goal is to create a villain you are not sure about. Is it a demon or a serial killer, or a fictional character in someone’s imagination. Is Gabriel an imaginary friend? I think the fun of this movie is trying to figure out Gabriel. What the hell is it.”
“Malignant” will be screened nationwide on September 10 this year.
