Charlie Hunnam stars in new Apple TV+ series ‘Shantaram’ with official trailer released, opens October 14 The ups and downs of an Australian man’s quest for redemption in the exotic land of Mumbai.
Shantaram’ is adapted from Gregory David Roberts’ famous novel about an Australian man’s exciting criminal history, life in the jungle: Lin Ford was once an idealist, but has since robbed banks, become addicted to drugs, and done nothing but evil.
He escaped from a felony prison and made his way to Mumbai, India, where this wanted man is a great recluse. The book tells the story of his complicated life and the city of Mumbai in all its diversity, love and hate.
The author of the novel Roberts’ own experience is complicated, and Ford’s story has his shadow, but ‘Shantaram’ is a fictional novel, not a work of reality.
Steve Lightfoot wrote and ran the show, and Antonia Desplat and Alexander Siddig also starred.
