JR’s new film “Paper & Glue”, one of the directors of “Visages villages”, completed its Asian premiere at the Fifth Westlake International Documentary Conference yesterday.
JR is a French photographer and street artist who calls himself a “graffiti photographer”.
He posted large black and white photographs in public places, which decorated the streets from Paris to Rio de Janeiro.
In “Paper & Glue”, JR aimed the camera at his own work: he produced a large number of installation art in places such as the US-Mexico border, Rio de Janeiro’s slums, and a super security prison.
At each location, JR captured photos of the residents of these communities and commemorated them with eye-catching, huge black-and-white photo installations.
“Paper & Glue” has already been screened at the film festival, and it will be officially released in the United States on November 12, with a duration of 94 minutes.
“Paper & Glue” is the sequel to the Oscar-nominated “Visages villages”, which is co-directed by JR and Agnès Varda.
